Meet John

Hi there, and welcome! My name is John Slick, and I’m the owner of Resonant Counseling as well as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland.

Going to therapy changed my life. For so long, I managed by shoving things down and pretending they didn’t bother me. But when I got overwhelmed, I would completely fall apart. It wasn’t until I worked through all of those piled-up things from my past that I felt like I finally started living the life I wanted to live.

Now, I’m passionate about helping people find that same joy and clarity. Whatever it is you’re dealing with, I believe that healing and growth are always possible. I know firsthand how hard it can be to reach out for help, and I also know firsthand how transformative that help can be.

My goal is to help you be the best you you can be. I want to help you release past trauma, feel more confident and balanced, and feel like you can thrive. I work with adults (18+) in Maryland with a past history of trauma, as well as folks trying to become more effective and responsive parents. I also love working with people in the helping professions, such as teachers, therapists, nurses, and doctors.

Outside of sessions, I’m a husband and a dad to two amazing boys. As a former music teacher, I stay involved in the local music scene and try to make music whenever I can. I’m a massive Baltimore Orioles fan, and, while I don’t have a favorite team, I get way too invested in the NBA every year. Otherwise, you’ll probably find me consuming every piece of Star Wars content I can get my hands on.
